Boris Moshenkov

Vancouver Artist

Boris Moshenkov is an artist known for his introspective and thought-provoking works. His art explores self-discovery and the metaphysical, often brought to life through painting, drawing, and mixed media.

Moshenkov integrates his artistic practice with immersive and mentally demanding experiences, such as week-long silent meditations in his studio, long distance running and prolonged cold plunges. He was the subject of a documentary project, where he was locked in an all-white room for 50 days. He undertakes these challenges to delve deeper within himself, uncover truths, visualize the metaphysical, and convey these insights through his art. While some artists capture the material world, Moshenkov is driven by a curiosity to explore the unseen realms of the unconscious.

Moshenkov was born in Soviet Uzbekistan and later immigrated to Israel before settling in Canada. He gained recognition by being selected out of a million artists, in the top 20 for the dearMoon program, a SpaceX initiative that will take 8 artists on a journey around the moon.

Boris was featured in numerous media interviews, including a prominent display in Times Square on a 8,500 sq/ft billboard for several weeks. His commissioned works have been sought after by esteemed collectors, billionaires, notable public figures and corporations like Samsung.

Moshenkov currently works out of his studio in Vancouver, where he continues to push the boundaries of traditional art and inspire viewers to think deeply about the world and their place within it.

Painting is like giving birth. Every piece is uncomfortable to create. The only difference is, smoking and drinking help. Once it's out of me I can at times gaze at the finished product with joy. - Boris Moshenkov
